Installing the AGP Video Card
Take your AGP video card out of its
static proof bag (Figure 19
shows an AGP video card). As with all expansion cards, touch your hands
to a metal surface to draw off any static electricity that might be
on your hands before handling the card. It’s best to handle cards
by the edges and corners. One side of the card is attached to a metal
piece that will sit toward the back of your PC’s case. Try to pick
up the card using the metal piece only.
You’ll notice that the card
has a funny notch toward its back (the end far away from the metal end).
That is unique to the AGP card. It will match up with a small protrusion
on one side of the AGP socket that is controlled by a slight plastic
lever. You’ll also notice that the AGP slot sits farther back than
the PCI slots.
