I get a "Runtime error" running FDISK on my Western Digital hard disk

Explanation:
While attempting to access a Western Digital hard disk using FDISK, a "Runtime error" is encountered.
Diagnosis:
This error message means that there has been some corruption or damage to track zero (where key file system structures are stored).
Recommendation:

Contact Western Digital technical support.
Use Western Digital's low-level disk utility to clear the disk. Realize that this will wipe out the entire disk!
