My CD-ROM's performance is very poor, is there anything I can do to improve it?

Your CD-ROM drive works but its performance is poor. You are finding it inadequate for using the latest games, or it is taking too long to transfer files.

There are several ways to improve CD-ROM drive performance. One is simply to upgrade the drive. Read the instructions that come with your CD-ROM drive, particularly the nitty-gritty on the parameters to the CD-ROM driver. In many cases there are additional parameters you can add to tweak the performance level of the drive.
Upgrade your CD-ROM drive.
