[ The PC Guide | Troubleshooting and Repair Guide | The Troubleshooting Expert | Troubleshooting Specific Components | Troubleshooting CD-ROM Drives | Audio Issues ] I can't hear music from my PC on the headphones plugged into my CD-ROM drive Explanation: You are not able to hear music produced by the sound card in your PC through the headphone jack on the front of the CD-ROM drive, even though you can hear CD audio disks on your PC.Diagnosis: The special cable that is used to connect the CD-ROM drive to the sound card allows you to hear audio CDs on the sound card. However, it only works in that one direction: you cannot use it to have sound card audio play through your CD-ROM's headphone jack.Recommendation: Use the output on the back of the sound card to listen to sound produced by the sound card.
